Hi, question I can't find an a clear answer to. The docs say you have tested Poweradmin with PowerDNS authoritative server as of version 4.7.4 (even with the latest Poweradmin 4.0.2).

Is that still accurate, given that the end of life has arrived for PowerDNS version 4.7?

https://doc.powerdns.com/authoritative/appendices/EOL.html

PowerDNS 4.8 and 4.9 are also on "critical fixes only".

Just looking to understand if I can push ahead to either 4.8 or 4.9 to get back into an active supported version and still have Poweradmin remain functional. Thanks!

Thanks for the question. That is a bit of outdated documentation, as this was mostly copied and pasted from the previous release (started last year). Why such an old version? Because most Linux distributions still contain older versions in their package repositories, so I still need to keep them listed. Also, in general, there aren't too many changes in those PowerDNS versions from a database schema perspective, and currently Poweradmin operates at the database level (except for DNSSEC operations). However, we're moving towards full use of the PowerDNS API, which will open new horizons. There are reports from other users that Poweradmin works fine with PowerDNS 4.9 and the latest 5.0 version. In any case, if you find anything critical that can be fixed, let me know. I'll try to improve the documentation section before the next release.

Thanks for letting me know! I'm on Poweradmin 3.9.4 now, I'm going to first migrate to 4.0.3 using it with PowerDNS 4.7.5. Once I test a bit I'll push PowerDNS to the latest 4.8 and see how it does. PowerDNS 4.8.x is officially supported through March of next year anyway.

I may not be a great test case as I don't actually use Poweradmin for very much. I have phpIpam making the actual DNS changes and the web UI is mostly to look up records and make sure nothing was screwed up.

Either way, thanks a ton for your work on the project - it's highly useful and far easier than the alternatives.
